Enrico Giovannini, Italian Minister of Labor and Social Policies, delivered the speech "Growth, Jobs, and Well-being in Italy (and Europe): Measurement and Policy Issues" at the Peterson Institute on September 24, 2013.
Giovannini was previously president of the Italian Statistical Institute (ISTAT). Notably, he served as chief statistician and director of the statistics directorate of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, where he designed and implemented a thorough reform of the widely-used statistical system and launched the Global Project on the "Measurement of Progress in Society." He is a full professor of statistical economics at University of Rome "Tor Vergata."
