Summary

In collaboration with the International Labor Office (ILO), the Peterson Institute held a conference on October 4, 2011, to present key findings from the new book Making Globalization Socially Sustainable. The edited volume, which will be jointly published by the ILO and the World Trade Organization, includes nine chapters by leading experts who assess how trade and labor market policies can be accommodated to make globalization socially sustainable.

The program began with an overview presentation by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Director of the Employment Sector of the ILO and former Minister of Trade of Costa Rica, and Marion Jansen of the ILO Secretariat in Geneva, followed by author discussions of several chapters.
